Stoppages and leaks made up a steady part of our work in September. On this job in Sarasota, pipes running along the outside wall of a building had broken near the ground. Our team replaced the damaged pipe and secured the new pipe to the wall.
Pipes that run along an exterior wall are exposed in ways that indoor plumbing is not. Landscaping, roots, and lawn equipment can all put stress on them. Securing a pipe firmly to the wall helps hold it in place and keeps it from shifting. If you see broken, sagging, or leaking pipes outside your home or building, it is worth having them checked before the leak gets worse.
We replaced a number of water heaters in September, and several customers chose to upgrade to a tankless water heater. A tankless unit heats water as it flows instead of keeping a full tank hot, which saves space and provides hot water on demand.
Whether a traditional tank or a tankless unit is the better fit depends on how much hot water your home uses and how the new unit will be installed. Read Is a Tankless Water Heater Worth It in Sarasota? or learn more about our water heater services.
Our crews also continued work on several large, ongoing remodeling jobs. That work included running water services, completing plumbing rough-ins, and repiping. You can see what a rough-in involves in our Nokomis restaurant remodel story.

"Thorough! They reviewed my request and verified it could be done. Worked clean and left me with no clean up and an excellent job. Best recommendation is I will use them for all future work. Full house filtration install. Took water samples to match the filter to our needs. No assumptions were made."
This review came from the customer in our whole home water filtration story. Precise planning, quick work, and a well built result are what we aim for on every job.
September brought rain almost every day around 2 or 3 in the afternoon. Daily storms slow down travel between jobs and make outdoor work harder, so our team planned schedules around the weather to keep jobs on track.
Warranty questions come up a lot, especially with water heaters. There is a difference between the manufacturer's parts warranty and the labor warranty from your plumber, and the two often cover different time periods. We break it down in Water Heater Warranties: Parts Coverage and Labor Coverage Explained.
Our team repaired and replaced multiple leaking backflow preventers in August, installing new backflow kits where the old parts had failed.
A backflow preventer is a valve assembly that keeps water flowing in one direction. It stops water from your property, such as irrigation water, from being pulled backward into the clean water supply. When the seals and internal parts wear out, the assembly can start to leak, and it may no longer protect the water supply the way it should.
Signs of a problem include water dripping or spraying from the assembly, puddles or soggy ground around it, and a water bill that is higher than usual. In many cases a rebuild kit with new internal parts brings the assembly back to working order.
In August we also wrote estimates for a number of water heater replacements. Some were for homes, and others were for large commercial properties such as condominiums, where several units or a whole building can depend on the same equipment.
A good estimate starts with looking at the existing water heater, how much hot water the property actually uses, and how the new unit will be installed. That way the replacement fits the home or building instead of simply matching what was there before.

In August our jobs stretched along the coast from Auburndale and Tampa all the way south to Bonita Springs. Covering that much ground takes planning, so our team scheduled crews for different parts of the state to keep response times short wherever the work was. You can see the communities we serve most often on our service areas page.

Many customers ask why a toilet stoppage is not covered under warranty. The short answer is that we cannot control what goes down the drain. When clogs keep coming back, though, it is often a sign of a deeper issue, such as a belly in the pipes under the house or a backup further down the sewer line. We explain what to look for in our article, Why Does My Toilet Keep Clogging?
