Custom Whole Home Water Filtration in a Longboat Key Condominium: Before and After

A condominium owner wanted cleaner water throughout the home. Here is how our plumbers sized, tested, and custom built a whole home filtration system to fit a tight space.

A customer in a Longboat Key condominium asked us to install a custom two-stage whole home water filter along with a showerhead filter. Before ordering anything, our plumbers measured the space, took water samples, and found a unit and parts built to fit. Then they cut in the new system with copper piping and fittings. The customer summed it up in their review: "No assumptions were made."

What the Customer Wanted

The customer wanted filtered water throughout the home, not just at one faucet. They asked for two things: a two-stage whole home filter and a filter for the showerhead.

What is a two-stage whole home filter?

A whole home filter is installed where water enters the home, so every faucet, shower, and appliance receives filtered water. In a two-stage system, water passes through two filter housings one after the other. That lets each stage handle a different job, such as catching sediment first and then treating the water further. A showerhead filter adds one more layer of filtration right at the shower.

Measuring the Space and Testing the Water First

Condominiums rarely have extra room for new equipment. In this home, the system needed to fit in the same closet as the water heater. Anthony started by inspecting the space to make sure the unit he ordered would actually fit, with room to connect the piping and change filters later.

He also took water samples. Testing the water first means the filter is matched to what is actually in the water, instead of guessing. With the measurements and test results in hand, Anthony searched for a unit and parts customized to fit the space, then gave the customer a quote.

Building the New System

Once the customer approved the quote, Anthony and Matt cut out the necessary section of wall and piping to make room for the new unit. They then built the system in place using copper piping and fittings, connecting the two filter stages into the home's water line above the water heater. The showerhead filter was installed as well.

As the after photo shows, the finished system sits neatly in the closet with the filter housings mounted side by side, leaving the water heater and electrical panel accessible.

What the Customer Said

"Thorough! They reviewed my request and verified it could be done. Worked clean and left me with no clean up and an excellent job. Best recommendation is I will use them for all future work. Full house filtration install. Took water samples to match the filter to our needs. No assumptions were made."

Customer review, custom water filtration system

The review highlights what mattered most on this job: checking that the request could be done, testing the water instead of making assumptions, and leaving the space clean when the work was finished.

Why a Professional Install Makes a Difference

A whole home filter connects to the main water line for the entire home, so the details matter. A professional installation helps make sure:

  • The filter is matched to your water, based on actual water samples
  • The unit fits the available space, with room to change filters
  • Pipe connections are sound and will not leak inside the wall or closet
  • Nearby equipment, such as the water heater, stays easy to reach for service
